Why Locals Love Singh Chapati House

Nestled in the heart of Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant Little India, Singh Chapati House is a charming Punjabi restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Northern Indian cuisine. This unpretentious eatery brings to life the rich culinary traditions of Punjab, showcasing the region’s famed breads and hearty, flavorful dishes crafted with care.

The star of the menu, naturally, is their chapati—soft, fragrant, and made fresh to order, it’s a true testament to the mastery behind this humble staple. One delighted guest shared how their piping hot chapati paired beautifully with the velvety egg curry, creating a comfort-food duo that satisfies the soul. For those seeking a more indulgent meal, the Tandoori Chicken Set is a must-try, featuring succulent, smoky chicken paired with cooling salad, hearty dhal, and tangy chutney—a harmonious play of textures and spices.

Singh Chapati House also excels in its diverse set meals, each thoughtfully presented to offer balanced flavors and generous portions. The Butter Chicken Set, rich and creamy with its luscious tomato-based sauce, offers a luxurious mouthfeel that melts in your mouth. Vegetarians are well catered for, with choices like the Dhal Tadka and a sweet finish of gulab jamun sweetening the experience. The vibrant Puri Bhaji and Chana Bhatura sets burst with traditional zest, their golden puffed breads encasing savory, spiced vegetable curries, leaving a lasting impression of authentic Punjabi homestyle cooking.

The dining environment at Singh Chapati House is straightforward, with air-conditioned comfort that invites you to relax, even if the décor leans towards modest and functional rather than lavish. The warmth of the staff and the welcoming atmosphere more than compensate, creating a friendly space where conversations flow freely over shared plates. The owner’s approachable nature means you can easily customize your meal or seek recommendations, enhancing the personalized touch of your experience.

Don’t miss the Punjabi chai here—robust, creamy, and perfectly brewed with cow’s milk, it’s a delightful accompaniment to the savory dishes, balancing the meal with its subtle spice and sweetness. Other refreshing options like teh o (classic tea) or teh halia (ginger milk tea) offer comforting warmth, while the sirap limau refreshes with a bright citrusy zing, ideal for Kuala Lumpur’s tropical heat.

For those craving something quick yet satisfying, the Maggi Goreng Veg provides a flavorful stir-fried noodle dish, skillfully balancing meat and vegetables with the familiar comforting texture of Maggi noodles.

Overall, Singh Chapati House is a genuine gem for lovers of Punjabi cuisine seeking authentic flavors at reasonable prices. Its modest setting, heartfelt hospitality, and steadfast commitment to culinary tradition make it a memorable stop in Brickfields’ bustling food scene. Whether you’re a local or a traveler exploring the cultural mosaic of Kuala Lumpur, Singh Chapati House promises a satisfying and soulful dining experience that resonates long after the last bite.

The seating area has aircond though you feel the set up may be alittle down to earth compared to other Indian restaurants. Anyway I paired their chapati with their egg curry. It was satisfying ;) it will be nicer if it is hot. I also ordered their chicken soup that has decent amount of chicken in a small soup of peppery soup.

Enjoyed my experience here. The service was good. The boss man is very friendly and you can discuss the dishes according to your party’s requirements. The food is very tasty. The basic things like the parota and chapatti are so good and done right. The Punjabi chai is also superb.

Good spot for Punjabi food. The tikka masala is creamy and rich, and tasty mango lassi too, a big glass for only RM5.50. The service is good, just a bit stuffy & ventilation is not so good. But would recommend for the food taste & portion!

Service was attentive, and atmosphere was clean, well-ventilated and spacious. Now for the food. I had a couple pieces of chapati and chicken breast tandoori. All tasted well and fresh, and did not disappoint. RM14 for all, good price.

Fantastic eatery! Simply decided to walk in and was very pleasantly surprised. Soft chappathi that was amazing - tried both the plain and ghee versions. The waiter Rishi was so helpful, patient, and smiling - kudos to him. Must try the bindhi masala, palak chicken, tandoori chicken and the egg curry. And of course washed it all down with a nice, hot cow’s milk tea. Keep it up!
